As a Climate FieldView™ user, your farming operation relies on these devices in much the same way. That’s why it’s so important to take steps as a business owner to make sure FieldView™ works on all your devices. When you roll into the field at harvest, we want to make sure FieldView is working optimally to collect your yield data for this season, so that crucial data isn’t lost, and so you can start using it right away to make decisions for next year.
That means applying caution when it comes to upgrading your iPad® iOS system. To ensure FieldView works when you need it most, we recommend that you do not upgrade the operating system (iOS) on your iPad® or iPhone® until we notify you that it is FieldView™ Approved.
Here’s why:
- Typically, Apple releases major operating system updates in the fall - a critical time for gathering harvest data
- While our engineers test our Climate FieldView™ product with beta versions of Apple’s latest operating systems, we can never be certain how well it will perform with a new operating system until that operating system’s final version is released
- It’s very common for a new operating system to cause issues with an existing app - every software company deals with this challenge
- Any necessary “fixes” to make the operating system fully functional with FieldView™ are usually made in a later version of the operating system
- While Apple will send you many pop-up and email notifications to upgrade your iPad® and/or iPhone® to the latest operating system, please select "Later" and wait until we notify you that it is FieldView™ Approved
- Apple will continue to send you pop ups every 24 hours requesting that you upgrade, so it is important you click on “Remind Me Later” or “Later” each time
- Be sure that you DO NOT select "Install Tonight" as this will give permission to Apple to upgrade your operating system overnight
- We are confident FieldView works well with Apple’s iOS version 10.3.3. To find your current iOS version, go to the Settings icon, tap "General", then "About". Your iOS is listed next to "Version". As long as that number begins with 10.3.3, you should be in good shape for harvest!
