CloudSync FAQs

Overview

This document addresses frequently asked questions regarding CloudSync in the FieldView™ Cab app.

Available on: Apple iOS™

Why did my CloudSync button disappear from the bottom-left corner?

    • The CloudSync button has been replaced with the Data Status button. The Data Status button makes it easier to view your syncing status directly from the FieldView™ Cab app's home screen.
    • By tapping Data Status > Sync Data to Cloud, you can see:
      • When data is being transferred from the FieldView™ Drive to your iPad® device
      • When data is being sent from your iPad® to the cloud
      • Sync progress by individual field
    • This update provides clearer visibility into where your data is in the syncing process.

What happens if I disconnect the Drive before the syncing has completed?

      • If data is still syncing and the user tries to disconnect the Drive, the Cab app will show a clear pop-up message to let them know and avoid interupting the process.

Why is CloudSyncing my data important?

        • After data has been collected from the FieldView™ Drive and pushed over to the FieldView™ Cab app, the data is then stored locally on the Cab app. This data is located only on the iPad® it was collected on until it syncs to the web. CloudSync allows the data to be synced to the cloud and can be available on other parts of the platform as well as other Cab apps used under the same account. CloudSync allows the data to be stored properly in the account for future access.

What are the different ways that I can CloudSync on my FieldView™ Cab app?

          • If CloudSync is enabled on your Cab app Settings, it will sync every time it is connected to the internet.
            • Go to Settings > General > CloudSync.

          • The iPad can CloudSync on the go if it has cellular data or a WiFi connection in the cab.
          • If there is no connection in the cab, the iPad will need to be connected to a WiFi source in order to get the data to CloudSync.
            • This will be a longer CloudSync due to it syncing all data at once instead of constantly while data is being collected.

          • You can also force a CloudSync by clicking on Data Status (in the bottom left corner of the Cab app) > Sync Data to Cloud (while connected to internet).

          • In order to CloudSync, there must be an internet connection available. Think of it the same way when uploading a photo to social media. That photo is stored locally on your computer and to get it to the cloud, it will need an internet connection to get there.

How often should I CloudSync my iPad?

            • If your iPad is not connected to an internet source while collecting data, it will need to be connected to a WiFi network in the evenings. You should CloudSync each evening in order to keep your account up-to-date.

Can I turn my CloudSync off?

              • You can disable CloudSync in the Cab app Settings.
              • Note: When CloudSync is Disabled, no data will sync to the cloud. This means that your data will only be stored on your iPad and it will not be backed up until it has CloudSynced.

Should I have the "CloudSync Fields" option in Cab app Settings set to "Current Season" or "On Demand"?

                • Current Season automatically downloads the field data from this account for the current season.
                • On Demand only downloads data when building maps for a field using the Data page in Settings or by selecting it on the Map. Collected data will still be uploaded while On Demand is enabled.
                  • To build the maps, go to Settings > Data > Choose the Year that you want to download > Select Rebuild next to the Field name > Select Download and Build.

Should I have "CloudSync FHI" enabled or disabled?

                  • Enabled: CloudSync will automatically download Field Health Imagery on this iPad for the fields in this account.
                  • Disabled: Field Health Imagery will not be downloaded on this iPad for this account.
