FieldView Pre-Harvest Checklist & Resources

Overview

This checklist will help prepare you for a smooth start to the harvest season.

Confirm Compatibility

You will need to know the following components to check compatibility for your harvest equipment:

  • Combine/Harvester Model
  • Yield Sensor
  • Yield Monitor Display
  • GPS Source

Be sure to check if an adapter harness is needed!

Check Software for Updates

    • Update your iPad® device to the latest iOS™ version recommended by Support
      • Click here for iPad Device Recommendations
    • Yield Monitor software
    • BOTH FieldView apps 

    Confirm Accurate Field Boundaries

      • Log on to fieldview.com to edit any boundaries that need adjustments.
      • Perform a CloudSync to update new boundaries to FieldView Cab app.
      • Boundaries can also be uploaded via the Data tab on fieldview.com.

      Combine Setup in FieldView™ Cab App

      1. Tap the Equipment button, then select  +Add New Equipment at the bottom of the screen.

      2. Select Combine, then tap Next.

      3. Identify the Make and Model, then tap Next.

      4. Enter a unique name for the combine, tap Next.

      5. Complete Combine Setup.

      1. Enter GPS Offsets
        • Verify these match the yield monitor
        • Manually measure offsets for aftermarket installs
      2. Find the correct Head and tap Edit, or select +Add New Head
      3. Review Settings
        • Keep default settings in most cases
        • Confirm the Flow Sensor Lag time matches the yield monitor setting
      4. Adjust GPS Location (Adjust in the field if necessary)
      5. Review Crop Settings (Adjust to match your local elevator)

       

      Combine Calibration Recommendations

      To improve accuracy and capture the best data while harvesting, it is best to calibrate the yield monitor system at the beginning of harvest.

      • Consult the OEM Operators Manual for calibration procedures specific to the combine brand & model.
      • Calibrate the combine across the expected flow rates AND with a moisture consistent with that of the grain being harvested.

      Beginning to Harvest

      1. Confirm the FieldView™ Drive is connected to iPad®. If Drive has not been previously paired, click Drive Installation for instructions. Reference the FieldView Drive General Usage and Care
      2. In the FieldView™ Cab app, tap the Equipment icon.
        • Tap Setup (next to connected equipment) and confirm the correct head is selected
        • Tap Done, then tap the Home button
      3. To begin harvesting:
        • Tap Map and select the field
        • To adjust Field Boundary Detection, open the map layer menu and tap Edit Map Options
      4. Tap the Harvesting Crop metric at the bottom of the screen: 
        • Confirm the current crop and adjust crop settings if needed 
        • Tap Done
      5. Verify Head Height is properly set: 
        • Tap Set to configure max harvesting height 
        • Raise the combine head slightly above the maximum height of where the crop will be harvested, then tap Next
        • Lower the head slightly from the previously raised position, then tap Done
      6. Begin harvesting.

      Multi-Hybrid Harvesting

      • If harvesting multiple hybrids, harvest one hybrid at a time
      • Ensure rows are aligned geospatially with planting data
      • Use SplitView on the map to confirm the combine aligns with a single planting pass
      • If the combine icon straddles two hybrid passes, or two hybrids appear at the same time on the hybrid metric pane:
        • Utilize GPS Adjustment feature to correct the combine's location
        • Tap Done to save changes

        FieldView™ Harvest Data Reporting

        Verify FieldView™ Drive Data is Offloaded

        While connected to the FieldView Drive device, navigate to the Map screen and select Drive Diagnostics button > check Offload Status. When Offload Status reads 100% the offload is complete.

        Edit Load List

        The Load List shows Harvested Acres, Wet Weight, Average Moisture, Dry Bushels, and Average Yield for each load.

        1. Tap the Load metric at bottom of screen.
        2. Tap on the Load that you wish to edit.
        3. Tap on Harvested Acres, Wet Weight, Average Moisture, or Dry Bushels to make edits to any of these values. Tap Done.

        Note: These edits are not reflected in the Harvest Summary.

        Create Load List PDF Report

        1. Tap the Load metric at bottom of screen.
        2. Tap Create PDF.
        3. Select the Email/Print option in the upper right to save/share your Load List Report.

        FieldView™ App Yield Analysis Report

        1. On the Dashboard screen, select View More on the Yield Analysis tile.
        2. In the top left corner, select the Clients and Farms to include in your report. You can also choose the Crop, Year, and how you'd like to sort the data (such as by field or hybrid).
        3. Tap into a field to dive deeper into the data.
        4. Select Map Options to create a PDF or CSV.
        5. Select Share to save or share your report. 

        FieldView™ App Harvest Report

        1. Select a field
        2. Select Year and Crop
        3. Select Harvest Map Layer
        4. Select Yield, or Harvest Date
        5. Tap the Map Options button
        6. Tap Create PDF Report
        7. Add additional notes if desired, tap Next
        8. Tap Share button to save/share

        FieldView™ Cab App

        Field Region Report by Pass

        1. In FieldView Cab app, select the field of interest and then select the map layer you want to dive into.
        2. Tap the More button, then select Create Field Region.
        3. At the bottom, tap Select Passes.
        4. Tap the desired passes and adjust the length.
        5. Tap Done once all passes are selected.
        6. Tap Save Field Region at the bottom of the report to save this region. Tap Create PDF to save or send in PDF file format.

        Sending Individual Field Files

        1. Open FieldView Cab app.
        2. Tap Map, then select field
        3. Tap the More button
        4. Select Send/Print
        5. Tap Send Field Files
        6. Enter the email address associated with the recipient’s FieldView account
        7. Tap Send to Account
        8. The files will be sent to the recipient’s Data Inbox
        9. Files will need to be imported using the Data Inbox via fieldview.com (Data > Upload & Import)

        Helpful Tips

        • If Planting data is not currently in FieldView, it can be imported using Data Inbox.
        • If the Planting Layer has incorrect Hybrid Names, this can be fixed with the Fix It Tool. Log into fieldview.com, select Data, then Fix.
        • GPS Adjustment can be added to the Metrics Pane. Tap Edit from the bottom of the Metrics Pane. Touch, Hold & Drag any metric to move it into place.
